Hi, I'm Petra and this is my weight loss/fitness blog.

I used to be on Weight Watchers from January 2011 to October 2012, dropping approximately 45 lbs. I've made the transition from unhealthy and unhappy to athlete and this is my journey to becoming a healthier, happier me. I frequently post about my exercise (mostly running, yoga and lifting), the foods I eat, recipes I liked and my daily struggles. You'll also find the occasional tree hugger post, (travel) photography or anything else I find worth remembering and collecting.

I follow most blogs back that follow me. However, I do stay away from blogs that promote EDs, unhealthy methods of weight loss or negative body image.

Feel free to say hi any time!

LOL, the tags make me laugh! Unfortunately, a few blueberries make a syrup-drenched heap of simple carbs not healthy. Whatever you gotta tell yourself, I suppose.

Here’s a thing I’ve noticed.

Am I the only one who gets ridiculously hungry the day after a long run?

I did my 8 miles yesterday (even though Runkeeper fucked up my stats and tells me I ran 16 miles - I wish!) and I wasn’t too hungry during most of yesterday. I treated myself to a large, carb heavy dinner with a glass of wine that was yummy and very much enjoyable. I went a little over my daily Weight Watchers points to eat back some of the activity points. Some time during the night I started getting really hungry, so I woke up and had a mini Luna bar. I ended up eating 9 of the 16 points back. On Saturday, I ate back 6 out of 15.

Today I feel like I could eat everything and anything and I have a huge craving for protein and (healthy) fat rich foods. I’m planning on eating a quinoa bean salad for dinner and I’m eying a package of nuts on my desk. If I ate the nuts, I’d end up going over my daily points again and I’m not sure I want or should do that - since I already went over on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

I worked out a lot this weekend, actually, I worked out a lot this week. So I shouldn’t feel bad about eating a little more. But I had a cookie today and somehow I feel like I don’t “deserve” going over my daily points. Had I not eaten that cookie (out of frustration with my job and my supervisor), I totally would have been fine.

I guess my real question remains though. Does anybody else get really hungry the day after the long run? Is that normal?
