Hi, I'm Petra and this is my weight loss/fitness blog.

I used to be on Weight Watchers from January 2011 to October 2012, dropping approximately 45 lbs. I've made the transition from unhealthy and unhappy to athlete and this is my journey to becoming a healthier, happier me. I frequently post about my exercise (mostly running, yoga and lifting), the foods I eat, recipes I liked and my daily struggles. You'll also find the occasional tree hugger post, (travel) photography or anything else I find worth remembering and collecting.

I follow most blogs back that follow me. However, I do stay away from blogs that promote EDs, unhealthy methods of weight loss or negative body image.

Feel free to say hi any time!

30 Day Running Challenge! - Days 13 - 14

Day 13: Have you ever been injured because of running? How?

Knock on wood, but I’ve not been injured as a direct result of running. I’ve had issues with knees and tight muscles, but nothing really that forced me to stop running or exercising altogether.

I broke/sprained my toe really badly a few weeks ago, but it was while being and everyday klutz. Here’s hoping that I’ll remain injury-free.

Day 14: What was your favorite race you’ve run? If you haven’t raced, what are you most looking forward to with racing?

Tough one! There have been a few races that I really liked:

  • Sleepy Hollow 10k: even though it was tough, it was so much fun! It was a Halloween-themed race and let me tell you, people in Sleepy Hollow take Halloween serious! There were so many people racing in fun costumes and the whole town was Halloween-themed. I’ve signed up for the 2012 race again and might be running in costume this year! (Last year’s report and pictures)
  • Brooklyn Half Marathon: The Brooklyn Half was my second-ever half marathon and I loved it because it was simply a very enjoyable race. It was a great, fast course, I had an incredible day when running it (I was in great shape that day and enjoyed myself the entire time). I PRed for the 13.1 distance even.
  • The Edge 2 Edge Half Marathon: What I loved about this half was more the experience than my performance. I ran it with a friend and we had a great time. The course was scenic and simply beautiful. I didn’t even mind the rain. Or the hills. Plus, it was my first destination race. That also made it really special.
