Hi, I'm Petra and this is my weight loss/fitness blog.

I used to be on Weight Watchers from January 2011 to October 2012, dropping approximately 45 lbs. I've made the transition from unhealthy and unhappy to athlete and this is my journey to becoming a healthier, happier me. I frequently post about my exercise (mostly running, yoga and lifting), the foods I eat, recipes I liked and my daily struggles. You'll also find the occasional tree hugger post, (travel) photography or anything else I find worth remembering and collecting.

I follow most blogs back that follow me. However, I do stay away from blogs that promote EDs, unhealthy methods of weight loss or negative body image.

Feel free to say hi any time!

Good things: 2/13

  • A co-worker complimented me on my outfit today. Scratch that, make it three co-workers.
  • The last few days, I’ve been feeling really good about my body. I’ve felt strong and beautiful and generally just really content with the way I look. I’ve been enjoying food (and booze) guilt-free and while I indulged a couple of times, I still made overall good decisions that I think were right in that particular moment. This also includes the Oreo Cheesecake cupcake and the sugar cookie I had today.
  • I had a NSV today. I’m wearing a pair of boots that I haven’t worn in a long time. I bought them in Argentina in 2004 and they’re just a little higher than ankle boots. I’ve always had large calves and finding boots has always been a real problem for me. It’s so frustrating that I’ve given up entirely. My running is obviously not helping in slimming down my legs, so I’ve resigned to the fact that I will just not be able to ever buy boots from the store. I’ve accepted the fact that my legs will always be larger than the average girl’s. It also means I’ll be able to run strong and fast. That said, I put the boots on today and when I first bought them, they were really tight on one leg and didn’t zip up all the way on the other. Today, I realized that I actually have space in them. Like, a lot of space. At least a couple of fingers. Yep. Awesome!
  • I chatted with my mom on the phone earlier today, after not having spoken to her in a while. Life sure has been busy. As we chatted, she dropped this bomb on me: I’m turning 30 this year and I know my parents had started thinking about coming for a visit. Mom and I had been talking about spending my birthday together since it’s such a big one. I told her that I was not going to be able to afford flying to Germany twice in a year (especially with my June trip to Canada) and that if she wanted to see me for my birthday in the summer, they needed to come see me. Or accept the fact that I would not be coming home for Christmas. (Which is a no-no for me because Christmas is such a family holiday for me and I want to spend it in Germany.) Anyway, today she tells me that they won’t be coming to NY this year, however, they’re willing to pay for my flight in the summer or at least a large portion of it. All I need to do is take the time of. Jesus!
  • My J. Crew order shipped.
  • I registered for a couple more NYRR races and I’m set all through June now. More on my racing later.
